what is a winnowing fan? and what exactly is chaff?
Yah i'm asking cuz in the verse of the bible Matthew 3 3:12 it says "His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor and gather HIs wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."
I know it's like talking about or using like wheat and stuff to simbolize something. like what does it mean with him putting chaff into the barn and burning it with unquenchable fire? it's talkin about jesus.
Chaff is the hull and inedible stuff from harvested grain. "To winnow" is to separate the chaff from the grain so you can cook and/or eat it.
A guess a winnowing fan would be some kind of broom-like instrument that you use to separate the chaff from the grain.
I suppose the grain would be the truth and the chaff would be the falsehoods and deceptions that sometimes grow around the truth. If He separates them and burns the falsehood in the fire, He's making the truth more pure and unadulterated.
