I love the new double ovens that are being offered in new houses. Who's behind the idea?

I'm a huge House Hunters fan and it seem the newer homes have had a complete over-haul. They gear more towards today's Americans needs.

I love the open-floor plans, larger closets, more detailing to crown molding, bigger bathrooms,etc and last but not least, the bonus rooms.

Double ovens have been popular since the 1970's. Anyone who bakes or entertains a lot knows the value of two ovens. Our last house (built in 1972 had double ovens), Our current house started out with only one oven. After one Thanksgiving and Christmas, my wife got two ovens.

The answer is simple, cooks really ask for them so builders put them in. The cost is pretty nominal.

The other thing that is very popular is the warming drawer. When I replaced my wife's single oven with a double oven, she insisted on the warming draw and it has been a really big hit. You can warm plates in it, keep food warm until served and it has a setting for helping yeast bread rise. When not in use, wife stores her bread in it.

Hunter Douglas ceiling fan company was opened in 1886 in Syracuse, New York. John Hunter and his son James started the business together in which they first began to produced motors that were powered by water. As the business expanded so did their merchandise. They continued to make motors as well as fans that were driven by belts.

The company was able to establish themselves in the lives of consumers due to the quality of products. In 1889 the company grew so much that they moved the company to Fulton, New York where the plant remained for fifty years. Twelve years after the big move John Hunter died and his six sons were forced to take over the company and carry on his legacy.

In an effort to keep the company open and running his sons incorporated the company and focused the majority of production on ceiling fans. The beginning models were designed using natural wood blades with intricate hardware. Each fan was handcrafted and made using the best materials. These settings are usually subject to high heat levels so high volume, low speed industrial fans are crucial when the space cannot accommodate traditional air conditioning systems. These electric fans promote fresh air and circulation so they can regulate odors and gaseous fumes and industrial blowers are particularly useful for cooling or drying applications.

Bathroom Exhaust Fans- These electric fans deal with offensive odors and humidity levels, making them vital components of your home. Brett Favre, The Green Bay Packers – What Next?

While Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson has said that Brett Favre can come back to the organization, he has said that Favre will not be the starting quarterback.

What?!

It is understandable that the Packers are getting restless with Favre's retirement-then-unretirement saga every season, but at the same time, how can you deny one of the greatest quarterbacks in history the chance to come back and lead the team that he helped build over the last two decades.

First off, the NFL needs him. Favre's infectious passion for the game and pictures of him picking up snowballs and launching them after throwing touchdowns has kept fans entrenched in a time when arrests, scandals and even deaths have rocked the game.

Second, the fans need him. Partially for reasons above, but let's look at them more in-depth. Favre is the face of 75 percent of America. His five-o-clock shadow and blue-collar attitude builds an invaluable connection with the rest of the United States.

He isn't advertising with Nike or Under Armour; his endorsement deals include John Deere and Wrangler. He could probably sign endorsement deals with bigger money partners, but he stays true to himself and what he is.

Such a connection with the American public has lifted the game immeasurably. In recent years, athletes have been put on such high pedestals that they've actually been dehumanized - much like today's celebrities.

However, in the Favre folklore, there is nothing more human than a guy that had to endure his father's passing and go to work a couple of days later.

Oh by the way, it just so happened to be Monday Night Football and it just so happened to be one of the most masterful quarterback performances in the history of the game.

And third, the Green Bay Packers damn sure need Favre to be worth anything. If Thompson says that an unproven Aaron Rodgers is the starter over a man that took a half-talent, low-budget team and turned them into a world champion, he is smoking a hell of a lot more than Wisconsin cheddar.

If Favre decides to come back, it would not only be unfair to Favre to be holding Rodgers' clipboard, it would be unfair to Rodgers to put that type of pressure on Rodgers.

For once, something involving an NFL decision goes beyond the dollars-and-cents reasoning. It would simply be better for the game if Brett Favre is the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers in 2008.

Cooling Your Home Without Air Conditioning

In today's fast paced world, air conditioners have become an essential home appliance, one that the present generation has gotten so used to, that life without it is unimaginable. This obsession has also led to certain unpleasant situations, whereby natural resources, especially those which help us generate electricity, have started depleting, posing a grave and dark threat to out future. This leads us to the question as to how we would survive if we did not have the comfort of an air conditioner at home, or if we do not have enough electricity to run this at home.

At this juncture, it would be worthwhile to reflect on the past, to our earlier generations who never ever had this comfort as part of their lives. There are many methods by which you can cool your home even if you do not use an air conditioner. Some homes have this in built system; where in during construction, the concept of cross ventilation is inculcated into the building, which ensures that air, whether hot or cold, flows in and flows out regularly, there by reducing the impact of stagnant air, especially hot air. Another method is the use of ceiling or pedestal fans; though this entails usage of electricity. The electricity consumption in case of fans is much lower than used by an air conditioner.

Another effective method of reducing internal heat is by installing sun film on your glass windows. This reduces the temperature inside by at least 3 to 4 degrees. Having a good green landscape around your house, especially around the windows is a great coolant. Make sure the landscape does not have barren areas or bald rocks, as these tend to reflect heat and increase temperature. Greenery, in the form of trees or shrubs can cool the entire environment, even during extreme summers. Drapes or curtains can reduce inflow of hot air and keep the temperature at a reduced level inside. When using lights, use fluorescent lights instead of incandescent bulbs, as these tend to generate heat while lighting.

A very convenient form of cooling equipment is the water cooler. The fan inside turns and transports the coolness of the water; which is held in a tray beneath the fan. If you are building a home, make sure to have insulation on your walls and ceiling. This type of insulation helps you to protect against both excessive cold as well as excessive heat. If you have an attic, have an attic fan. This helps reduce build up of hot air in the attic, as hot air is known to be lighter and travel upwards. Keeping the curtains and blinds closed, especially during afternoons, help in reducing the inflow of heat as well reducing outflow of the ambient temperature that has been created inside.
